Deven Green is
the creator/voice of the
Brenda Dickson comedy parody series, the face of the Betty Bowers satires
and was awarded PERFORMER OF THE DECADE!
Click here for all Brenda details:
Deven started out as a professional figure skater
whose triple-gold medal status is memorialized in her hometown located
in the remote, isolated, boreal tundra of Northern Canada. She was called
in by Disney to recreate the figure skating portions of "Blades
of Glory" and "Ice Princess" which proves she can still
turn a trick. Realizing she didn't want to don a Smurf costume to tour
with Ice Capades, she transitioned to a brief modeling jaunt where she
quickly discovered that any industry who prefers a closed mouth was
not for her. Thankfully her sizable comic talents landed her in Toronto
where she graduated from Seneca College at the top of her class and
perfected her comedic sensibilities at Second City. Landing several
national commercials and movie roles gave her the money to feed her
insatiable addiction to Pez candy dispensers. Deven lives in Los Angeles
with her husband and comedy party Joel Bryant an their kitten 'WHEN.'
With self-discipline engrained from
years of early morning skating practice and late night comedy shows,
Deven quickly excelled to win ten Best Female Improvisor / Sketch Comedy
Performer awards from the LAC, prevailed in Craig Shoemaker's Comedy
Idol competition, and won "Best of the Fest" at the First
International Hollywood Comedy Festival as one-half of the nationally
recognized improv duo
Composte Comedy Heap.
Well
Hello,
I, Me, am here in
<whisper> hollywood <end whisper>.
I've hermetically sealed you
on this page -
I hope you don't take umbrage with that.
I am truly
overwhelmed and thankful
to everyone who has
supported my comedy parodies (I know I sound like a pilgrim). The outpouring
of emails, photos and videos lets me know that there are others who
love those insulated in their own world as much as I do.
Whoosh.
Fact: Deven is not a mensa member.
Deven and Joel met in
1998 and immediately began performing together as a comedy duo.
Seven years later Joel proposed during a game of bingo at a Pez convention.
They were married in Los Angeles 10/14/2007.
Joel's birthday is 10/15.
Someone made damn sure Joel will never forget their anniversary.
A great profile means a
long marriage.
HOOT!
Deven & Joel have just
been
cast in and are recording
THE CUBES
(The first myspace animated series) The
Cubes - Coming Soon
Deven's 'Airline Rant' will
be aired on
Current TV ... soon.
Back Soon is being released
and Deven plays the knife-fighting prostitute.
One of the best and funniest shows I have ever been in: Mortified
Great Quotes from MATRIMONIUM:
Her inimitable charm is etched over the reality-show spoof
Matrimonium which won Philly Fest Favorite where Deven's bizarrely
observant TV show hostess role, Andre Genous, was lauded:
"The
best character, however, is the deadpan hostess"
-Gary Kramer, San Francisco Bay Times
"a pitch perfect performance by Deven Green as the vacuous TV
show hostess."
-IMDB
"really standout funny performance by Deven Green as the show hostess."
-Bryan Irrera "Matrimionium is at its best when we are looking at the zoned
out hostess." -DVD Verdict The real joy for me was to see
a completely original character pop out in Deven Green's game show hostess.
I guarantee you haven't come across this person in any other movie.
In a film that was largely improv she delivers a daring and innovative
creation. If there isn't an award for that there should be.
-Mike B - Collector's Gem
Deven and Joel have been cast in a lot of projects together but are rarely
in the same scene...
we doubt this will change.

With over 30 years of practice at talking, it is no surprise that her
voice was enlisted for Disney commercials, Cineplex Odeon's film listings,
Subaru car commericals, Heal The Bay Foundation, ADR for Charlie Matthau's
"Her Minor Thing," "The Music Within," and Roger
Kumble's "Just Friends."
As a regular character guest-voice
on The Howard Stern and Mancow radio shows, the viewer response was
as expected:
"you lady, are disgusting," and,
"I hope you get hit by a
bullet."
WRITING:
Deven has a solid comedy writing
background from sketch comedy shows in both Toronto and Los Angeles
to random speech writing (Marlee Matlin, Donny Osmond, Sharon Osbourne,
Garth Brooks and Leslie Neilson for the Starkey Foundation) to extraordinarily
well-worded eBay auctions.
Currently working on an A&E project due out in 2009.
What did the LA Times reviewer
say?
"Ms. Green is zany and energetic"
" clever and
inspired "
"Green did
a rib-achingly funny impersonation of Katherine Hepburn."
Yes, all the Brenda Dickson
parodies are created by me...partly improv, partly written
but always how I speak in real life.
With a hard-earned reputation
as one of the best (and easiest to work with) female improvisors in
Los Angeles, this smart-mouthed, dual-citizen is talented in any country
at least that is what Deven will tell you.
FAST FACT:
Deven was born missing both bottom ribs but had 3 sets of buck teeth.
She appeared as a model in Chatelaine,
GQ, Canadian Living and Marie Clarie. During a live fashion show Deven
tried a self-tanning lotion which only made her look marbelized. Then,
the fake press-on nails snagged in her panty hose and, at the time,
could not afford a second contact lens.
While walking down the catwalk she apologized to the audience saying
'Sorry, this is my first show!' ...and last.
I
got to interview my idol Robert Morse
the brilliant Tony-award winning actor
(as Truman Capote).
.
Not only is he a superior actor,
but he is an absolute gentleman.
The interview is on my camcorder if you want to come over and watch
it.
As the host/interviewer
of the stripper-fest 'Trash T.V.'
all I can remember
is Joel showing me how his hand was, and I quote,
'good for chopping stuff.'
Joel
was playing a purveyor of porn.
This video won't come back to haunt us.
If you love Harland Williams'
movies and stand up comedy, see Harland and friends acting insane in hilarious
sketches written and directed by Harland himself.
"The caramel corn of your mind streams through fields of toe-nail
refuse and dreams of beehive hair-do's. There's no sweeter treat than
those meanderings that originated in your feet and sprang forth into the
world unabated from the broken down refrigerator corners of your own personal
universe."
Starring:
Harland Williams, Sean Tweedly, Deven Green,
Kevin Hearn, Fred Beasly, Sean Keene
How could I resist
being the cover girl for the Recycler magazine.
Jealous much?
Joel said one day I may work my way up to the Penny Saver.
There is nothing like performing
in Vegas. Two for years we did week-long shows for Comdex and got on the
cover of the Las Vegas newspaper.
Vegas is excellent when you
spend other people's money.
I recreated each jump, spin,
footwork and fall sound for both ICE PRINCESS and BLADES OF GLORY.
Check out the short video
of how this is done: BLADES
OF GLORY
Since I was playing a reporter
from Norway - I thought it best to have that
'not a thought in her head look.'
That was acting. Thank you.
The following is a recap of the
premiere episode of SPY TV which was the highest rated episode ever. I
did 3 episodes.
"The final segment involved
a husband, Nate, getting revenge on his wife, Keisha, for racking up over
$1000 in psychic hotline calls. Keisha is a self-professed fanatic for
anything supernatural, and they managed to get her to go to their psychic,
Mistress Deven. Nate had provided her with information ahead of time so
Keisha would fully believe in Devens powers. Then, Deven tells Keisha
that she can feel the power in Keisha as well. She asks Keisha to use
the power to read her, and then agrees with everything Keisha says. Then
she urges Keisha to use her mental abilities to move a candle sitting
on a wall ledge behind Devin. Unbeknownst to Keisha, there is a Spy TV
operative behind the wall, ready to move various objects with a powerful
magnet. Keisha looks very serious, like shes straining herself to
move the candle. Suddenly, it moves. She keeps moving that and other items,
talking about how the effort is draining her. I laughed. Keisha
tries to leave but Deven brings her back to try to get rid of the negative
energy. She has Keisha wear a ridiculous hat and say magic words while
the lights flicker and items fly off shelves. Keisha again tries to run,
but Deven brings her back, Youre on Spy TV.
The following is what
happened in episode 2 of SPY TV! The pizza delivery man was not seriously
injured but all major news stations picked up the story 'HOW FAR WILL
REALITY TV GO?'
I
played a patient dying in a seedy hotel-room surgery (you are looking
at pig skin and intestines; it's not the real inside of my flat tummy
okay?).
Every half hour we ordered pizza to urgently enlist a delivery guy to
help the 'doctors.' Very funny idea until one of the pizza guys actually
jumped out of the second-story hotel-room window thinking he was going
to be operated on. For some reason I started laughing.
